#KJHAcademy: Ethereal Romantic Makeup

I have been fascinated with makeup since a very young age. Some of my earliest memories associated with it are visiting my great grandmother as a young child. She would get out her red lipstick and dab it onto our lips, then put a little on her finger tip and blend it onto my and my twin sister’s cheeks. Before we left she would take us into the bathroom and douse us in her Ponds cold cream and wipe off all the makeup with a tissue. I swear the smell of the cold cream is seared into my memory.

My grandmother always loved Clinique, so I have ventured into many department stores with her and my mom. I remember always being in awe of counter after counter of endless beauty products. It was like my version of taking in the Cave of Wonders in Aladdin. 🤩

As I have grown I loved experiencing makeup with my older cousins, friends, and learning from pros along the way. It is my happy place and one of my favorite creative outlets!

SOOOOOOO during the pandemic this year I had been contemplating taking some makeup courses, but in that search came across the instagram account of pro-makeup artist Katie Jane Hughes. Every week she hosts what I will call a community “project” called #KJHAcademy in which she does a makeup look and then commissions her followers to recreate that same look. After 24-48 hours she picks 9 participants to post along with her look. Finding this outlet has been something for me to look forward to every week that I do for me!!! We all need something in our life, or even multiple things, that bring us joy and fill us up!

Every week I am going to highlight my recreation of Katie’s look on the blog + my product list. This week was a really soft, romantic, ethereal look that focused on rosy tones, emphasizing the blush, soft lashes, and of course that glow!
